Random (and irregular) ramblings of a mildly scatterbrained artist...!

October 31, 2019

There seems to be a month for everything these days- lots of national incentives to give things up for a month in a bid to get us to change our habits, challenge ourselves, get healthier or even just think twice. Stoptober, Vegan-uary, Dry January.. and the less amusingly named- 'Plastic Free July'!

My mister and I have been gradually attempting to reduce our plastic purchases over the years, and have focused ourselves in July for the last three summers. And...

I'm excited! I have a calendar arriving tomorrow that I will be posting out to people all around the land and YOU can buy it right here on my website! I've finally bitten the bullet and gone for an online shop rather than only selling through an external company (Etsy) and it's rather exciting! I'm using way too many exclamation marks and need to stop. Full stop.

Anyway- please do check it out, have a browse, and let me know if you see anything that needs fi...

My largest commission to date was also a very special one. I had started sketching out an idea of a 'bird circle' similar to the fish I do, but hadn't got very far, and had abandoned the idea when I met someone who had a specific vision.
Four birds, wings touching in the centre, to represent their family unit, one of whom has been fighting cancer for some time. Then- concentric circles of more birds, each representing a group of people who have supported th...

Time to say goodbye...!

It is time for my big re-launch, re-brand and big reveal of my new business name.... Jessamy Keily Art!

Thrilling stuff eh. I've decided to give up Jinks Art as my business name and switch to just using my name (risky considering the usual spelling nightmares people have with it) as of July 2019. It's been a bit of a torturous decision, mostly for my friends and family who have had to listen to me umming and ahhing and changing my mind...

It's a new year! And I still haven't kept up the blog writing. I'm not sure anyone reads them apart from the lovely boyfriend and lovely parents but it can be quite therapeutic in the same way a diary can be- and always fun to read back and get embarrassed over a few months later!

I have actually always been a diary writer- again in random sporadic bursts- almost all my diary entries begin 'I haven't written in SO LONG' but I really enjoy it and love reading...

I moved to Wareham six months ago and have fallen in love with this lovely town! Having known nothing about it, I have heard that it has a bit of a reputation of being a 'stopping point' on the way to other, more glamorous or famous Dorset spots. Not the case! As we become part of the community, Squid the dog and I keep discovering more and more wonderful places to explore all within walking distance from my house so I thought I would share some, in the hop...

Well, my first big new adventure in Dorset has started! I am now part of the Purbeck Artisan Yard, which is handily situated just down the road from my new home in Wareham. It is a big, rustic converted barn space which is brimming with beautiful locally made art, crafts, furniture and gifts.. there are cushions and candles, prints and paintings... glass, pottery, sculpture, vintage furniture and clothes... I have seen something I'd like to take home every...

It's 2018! I wonder how many times I am going to have to cross out 2017 this week when I get the date wrong...

'New year, new me'- one of the most over used, under achieved phrases ever! Here at JinKs it's 'New year, new house!' We have moved to Dorset, one whole county away from our Exmoor idyll. We are in the Purbeck area which is another area of outstanding natural beauty, so I'm not too worried about missing mother nature- plus we can walk to the pub fr...

Just thought I would write a little post about our recent trip to Cornwall! As J and I are both self- employed, it is very hard to manage to find a day that we both have off, so when we realised that if we each just cancelled one thing, we had four whole days, we thought we should take advantage!

One of the wonderful things about where we live on the edge of Exmoor, is how easy it is to visit some of the most beautiful spots in England (in my opinion!). So w...

As those of you who follow me on Facebook and or Instagram will know... I was in London last week! After much deliberation back in February, I decided to take a big risk (and big investment) and go to Country Living Magazine's Spring Fair at Alexandra Palace.

It was a big step up for me from the little village craft fairs and farmers' markets that I usually attend with my artwork and kept me awake for more than a few hours in the lead up to the end of April....
